Friction

Friction is the sum of obstacles - physical and psychological - faced by the athlete in the training process. It is the result of the way the athlete receives, perceives, and conceives of their training. When the athlete reads the program for the day, what does it make them think and feel? Do they feel excited, interested, engaged, anxious, bored, overwhelmed, nervous?

Mitigating friction is the focus of Facilitation, one of the four pillars of the ATM theoretical model of coaching.
